Clinical Decisions - Ethical Dillemma's

This year the SMRPCC's annual clinical forum will explore clinical practice within the increasingly complex environment of the Victorian health system.

The forum will be facilitated by Beth Wilson,former Victorian Health Services Commissioner.

Discussion will include:

  • the Medical Treatment Planning and Decision Act
  • upcoming changes in the Victorian assisted dying law
  • increased demand with largely unchanged funding and
  • the increasing privatisation of service delivery outside the palliative care space (NDIS, home nursing)

The law on consent for medical treatment will be changed significantly on the 12th of March 2018. This has implication for a wide range of health providers, including allied health, pharmacy, dentistry, etc. It is your responsibility as a provider of health services to know about these changes and prepare for them.
